If you’re like thousands of other people around the world you’ve tried your hand at building your new C8 on Chevrolet’s website. What immediately impressed us was the extensive list of options to personalize the interior of our new sports car.

The new mid-engine C8 has the most extensive interior options list of anyCorvette Chevroletever produced. The C8’s extensive interior options list rivals some of the best that European automotive manufacturers have to offer.

For years Vette owners have wanted more interior options so they could personalize their car. Having a long list of options seems like a great feature, but be careful what you wish for here.

You can quickly develop “analysis paralysis ” as the stress of making the right decision sets in for many.

Fortunately, for those of us in Atlanta, we have a trusted Corvette expert like Chris Lindamood to answer our C8 interior questions.

Interior Options Abound

As many of you know, Chris Lindamood is the Corvette Sales Manager fromRick Hendrick Chevrolet in Duluth. You’ll remember him from our recently published article titled“Talking Corvettes with Chris Lindamood.”

We caught up with Chris recently to talk with him about the new C8 interior’s list of options. Here is our discussion:

Rod Worley, Editor – Chris, with so many interior options available, isn’t it possible to make a big mistake from a visual standpoint?

Chris Lindamood – Yes, you can make some decisions on the order sheet that you’ll regret later if you’re not careful. There are six color schemes: Adrenaline Red, Jet Black, Natural or Natural Dipped, Morello Red, Sky Cool Gray, and Two-Tone Blue.

Depending on the trim level, the chosen color will either cover the entire interior or be a two-tone look with black as a secondary color.

The Jet Black interior has Sky Cool Gray stitching as standard but can be configured with Red or Yellow stitching. Other interior colors have color-matched stitching.

Additionally, the seat belts will be available in Black, Blue, Natural, Orange, Torch Red, or Yellow. There are even options with the two-spoke steering wheel.

You can either have it wrapped in leather or micro suede.

All of that is before we talk about the various seat options and the carbon fiber, which can be added to the center console, door sills, and other places.

Nothing Beats Experience

Rod – I’ve tried to spec out a new Vette on the Chevrolet’s build page. To me, it’s more of an overview of the options than anything else. Not sure I’d trust it to finalize my order. Every day you see what works visually together and what doesn’t. Do you offer your advice to a client when asked?

Chris – When you’re working with a client on the options, you can tell when they’re looking for some advice. I’ve always told my clients that I’m pretty honest and blunt about what I think is good or not on these cars.

The reason you need advice is that with the 2LT, you’ve got six interior options. If you choose the 3LT, that number jumps to 13. Unlike the last two generations, there are a couple of ways to add some color to the interior and delete some as well. With a little bit of help and guidance, you can put together a great looking car that’s personalized for you.

My real advantage is that I continually see new C8 Corvettes with dozens of different configurations. I’ve watched my client’s reactions when they first see their new car. I’ve listened to their comments. There’s no substitute for hands-on experience when it comes to picking out the right interior combinations.

The Right Combination Matters

Rod – How important are the right option combinations for a new C8 when it comes to resale? Do you think some care less because they’re going to track the car?

Chris – Well, I can safely say that 70% to 80% of Corvette buyers are very visual. They’re captured quickly by the distinctive styling of the car.

So if you option it with non-traditional color combinations, it won’t sit well with perspective resell clients. First impressions are so important.

One of the questions I always ask is, “How long are you planning on keeping the car?” For some, its just a couple of years.

So, in that case, I recommend interior combinations that have a more broad appeal. I’ve seen some funky combinations which make them tougher to resell but to each their own.

If you’re going to track the car or keep it for many years, of course, that’s a different story. You can step out as far as you want then.

Rod – I would imagine that GM doesn’t want a dealership getting too crazy on colors and options either for that same reason.

Chris – Exactly, that’s why GM has its list of non-recommended color combinations. When we go to order cars for the dealership, we can’t do certain color combinations. There are some restrictions at the 2LT level and more at the 3LT trim level.

Best Advice For C8 Interior Options

Times have certainly changed. Buying a new Corvette in 1953 was simple.

You could have it in any interior color you wanted as long as it was red. The truth is they built the first 300 Corvettes exactly the same.

They also had no trim or equipment variations, either. Fast forward from the C1 “solid-axle ” generation, and you’ll see how far we’ve come in 2020.

You have the power right now to individualize your new Vette to a level that rivals some of the best car manufacturers in the world. Our best advice for C8 interior options?
