Announced shortly after the reveal of the 992-generation 911 GT3 RS, the “Tribute To Carrera RS” package was introduced as a limited-production version that celebrates Porsche's motorsport heritage.

The reason behind the popularity of GT3 has been its unique regulation. The GT3 cars are manufactured by the car manufacturers (and their affiliated competition car tuning companies). The cars are sold to the teams and owners, and after that the manufacturers also provide maintenance services.

It's not intended for everyday use, it's intended for B road blasts and track days, but you could of course use one every day. I used an Elise as my only car every day for 4 happy years and loved every mile, and a GT3 is more practical than that and with lower NVH.

Standard 997 GT3s are narrow bodied cars and the RS model is a wide body (44 mm wider rear track). The GT3 RS' rear wing is made of carbon fiber and is adjustable. It is both lighter and larger than the standard GT3 wing which easily makes up for any added weight from the wider hips.

The 997 generation of the 911 was very successful for Porsche, with approximately 213,000 cars built over an eight-year period spanning 2005 to 2012.
